Messi: at what age does he plan to retire from soccer and in which club
The Argentininan legend has answered some of the questions the whole world of soccer is expecting to find out.
No other player in the world has had soccer fans as expectant as Lionel Messi. The Argentinian master has his contract with Barcelona expiring in just some months, and the arm-wrestling between another renewal and a free transfer to another club goes on. Still, the fans would love to know at what age he will retire, and in which club.
Messi has three main teams, at least, to think about. On top, Barcelona. His lifetime club would love to keep him forever, and the fans would name him Major of the city if they could. He has turned the most influential human being in Catalunya’s history, or if not, very close to that. Then, his town’s childhood club Newell’s Old Boys. And behind, the most publicly interested team in bringing him as a free transfer: Paris Saint-Germain.
When he received his sixth Golden Ball prize, Messi recognized: “The time to retire is closer”. Now, speaking to Mundo Deportivo, he added: “Everybody kept thinking about that, but the truth is I turn more years old and I still don’t know when. Today I feel very well, even better than in previous years. Despite I’m not scoring many goals I feel very good in terms of my body and physical condition”.
When he was asked if he would play until he turns 40, he said: “I don’t know, we’ll see”, and laughed. Then, last but not least, he was asked about if he’d remain in Barcelona. “I said many times that my idea is that. As long as the club and the want the same, there will not be any problem from my side”.
