Paris Saint Germain began their opening group game of the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League game against Club Brugge with an attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappe, the first time the three will be lining up together.

The combination was however short-lived after 22year old France international was substituted in the 50th minute due to an apparent foot injury. He was replaced by Argentine striker Mauro Icardi.

The score was levelled at 1-1 when Mbappé was taken off and the duo of Lionel Messi and Neymar were yet to really settle into the game. Ander Hererra scored for PSG, assisted by Mbappé while Hans Vanaken pulled one back for Club Brugge in an eventful night in Belgium.

The other match in the group had Manchester City hosting RB Leipzig. Mbappé will be assessed to determine the extent of the injury and to ascertain when next he will be available.
