When considering the fortunes that players have, we need to take a look at the contracts signed with the clubs, that represents their greatest incomes, the transfers made from one club to another, that make them gaining important commissions, and the sponsorships arranged with brands.
Considering all this points, there is a very important influence of social media. Players are now very important famous figure that influence their public and can make companies earning millions with just posting an image. Instagram has been one of the most relevant social platforms during the last years and soccer players exploded their potential there.
The player who has more followers on Instagram nowadays, that is as well the most followed user in the whole world, is Cristiano Ronaldo (237 million). For every promotion made with a brand, he earns more than $1.2 million. Following him we find Lionel Messi (174 million followers), Neymar (144 million), James Rodríguez (46.6 million), Marcelo (46.1 million), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (46 million), Kylian Mbappé (45.8 million), Gareth Bale (43.7 million), Paul Pogba (42.6 million) and Sergio Ramos (42.5 million).
