The Best FIFA Awards left a lot of controversy as always, but Megan Rapinoe faced FIFA and had no problem saying that she did not deserve to be among the best XI players of the year chosen by FIFA. The USWNT forward said she was giving up her spot because she hadn't played for the year and she exposed Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo were highly criticized after being nominated for The Best FIFA Awards as they have not had a great season with FC Barcelona and Juventus. There were other players like Neymar who were not within the ideal XI and who surely should be there.

The point is that Megan Rapinoe was voted by her own teammates and that is very valuable but the same player said that there are many other players who deserved to be instead of her. With Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo something similar happens since surely other players have had a better season but being Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi or Rapinoe were there.

Megan Rapinoe noted her surprise in a letter she wrote herself but was equally grateful for being nominated. Rapinoe also took the opportunity to say that we must continue betting on women's football since there are a lot of things to improve and do. Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi surely feel something similar to Rapinoe but they cannot do anything since her teammates put them in that ideal XI of FIFA.
