Mauricio Pochettino has given a controversial answer in a press conference when he was asked if he preferred Lionel Messi or Kylian Mbappé. The Argentinian coach is clearly interested in bringing his countryman to Paris but must stay politically correct, and avoid making any asseverations on the future.
He stated they are two great footballers, each with their own characteristics. Also, he mentioned great players can always play together, and recognized they are both among the best in the world. Other coaches appoint other players, but he doesn’t since he wants to keep respectful for them, he said.
When asked on the famous “pick your choice” style, he said it was a tricky question, that he does not like it, and that since he has a lot of experience having played for 12 years and being a coach, he was not going to answer it in the way that the journalist wanted. Just as in tactics, he is smart when it comes to answer questions from spicy journalists who look for shocking headlines.
Kylian Mbappé is allegedly pretended by Real Madrid, but the Spanish club should have to pay around $240 million, according to the reported club’s wish. It’s likely that both can’t be together, given that in order to sign Messi, PSG could be forced to release Mbappé in order to comply with Financial Fair Play rules and to be able to afford the Argentinian’s contract.
