Brazilian left back Marcelo will leave Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season when his contract expires having fallen down the pecking order in recent seasons under Zinedine Zidane and his situation has not changed under Carlo Ancelotti.

Marcelo, 33, joined Real Madrid as a teenager from Brazilian club Fluminense in 2007 and went on to become one of the best defenders in the world in a storied career at Real Madrid, winning all trophies that were available to him in his 14 years stay in Spain.

Marcelo has played just 65 minutes this season with 44 coming in the league and the other 21 in the UEFA Champions League, the numbers underlines his struggle for minutes under Carlo Ancelotti who prefers Ferland Mendy ahead of the Brazilian.

He has so far played 532 games for Real Madrid, scored 38 goals and provided 101 assists and has won 22 major trophies including five La Liga titles and four UEFA Champions League titles. He also won four FIFA Club World Cups.

His former club Fluminense is interested in having him back and he is also keen to rejoin the club he made his name before moving to Europe.
