Real Madrid has offered their number 1 goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois a new 5-year deal to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu. The 6ft 7in goaltender has been the number 1 between the sticks for Madrid since his 2018 move to the Spanish Capital. Courtois' new deal means he has committed his future to the club till 2026.

His new deal will be on the same salary scale of £271,000 per week, a significant upgrade from the £200,000 weekly he was earning on his former deal. The Belgian goalkeeper is one of the highest-earning goalkeepers in the world, being in the top 5 since his move to the Los Blancos in 2018. After earning a 100% increase from the £100,000 a week he was earning at Chelsea, Courtois leapfrogged into the joint number 4 spot on the list of highest-earning goalkeepers. Now, he will become the clear number 4 on the list of highest-earning goalkeepers.

Manchester United's David de Gea remains the best-paid goalkeeper in the world with a salary of £375,000 weekly. He is closely followed by Atletico Madrid shot-stopper, Jan Oblak on £350,000 weekly. Germany and Bayern Munich number 1, Manuel Neuer is third on the list on £325,000 weekly salary.

Courtois' new salary of £271,000 makes him the 4th highest-earning goalkeeper on the list. Courtois was level with PSG's Keylor Navas on £200,000 a week before his new contract. The former Atletico and Chelsea goalkeeper will hope for a fruitful season at the Bernabeu this season. He was in between the sticks for Zinedine Zidane during the 2018-19 season when they won the La Liga. This remains Courtois' only major trophy for Madrid.
