A white cloth with black letters hung on the edge of one of the stalls of the Defensores del Chaco, in Asunción, in the match between Argentina National Team and Paraguay. He carried a message. A message for Lionel Messi. "Thanks for all your football," he says. And he was precisely on the Guaraní side.

The admiration generated by having the Argentine 10, playing in their territory, was already anticipated. In fact, he anticipated what finally happened once the match was over. For the locals, the match against Argentina meant much more than a showdown for points: it was the possibility of seeing the best player in the world live and direct.

That is why it was not surprising that in Asunción the allowed capacity was greatly exceeded and that the occupation of the APF stadium was closer to 80 than 50 percent. Those who entered were lucky: they could see an off-road Messi, a Messi who is a strategist but who also struggles, who also dribbles in the mud, who also defends.

The invasion at the end of the game, with fans jumping onto the pitch, desperate to get a selfie with the 10, not caring that the police officers took them away, exposes, once again, how great Lionel Messi is. Just like Papu Gómez's gesture: with another colleague he would hardly have served as a bodyguard as he did with Leo, with the intention of protecting him from the affectionate run over. All that is the Argentine captain. For outside and for inside.
