Luka Modric and Toni Kroos: who are the players who could replace the two at Real Madrid

Luka Modric will be out of contract at Real Madrid at the end of the season and talks of a new contract with Real Madrid are not even on the cards. His playing time and effectiveness is being hampered by recurring injuries. At 36, this could well be a time to call it quit and not look for any new challenge.

His midfield partner Toni Kroos will also be out of contract in 2023 will be out of contract and at 31 could still have more years at the top level of his game but should an opportunity arise for a world class and younger midfielder, Madrid may not hesitate to move on.

Real Madrid already have in their ranks young midfielders who could step into the big shoes of the two legends, Federico Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga are two players who could really step up in case Luka Modric and Toni Kroos no longer continue at Real Madrid.

Madrid also have Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and his French compatriot and Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni on the radar and should they succeed in signing those two to join Casemiro, Federico Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga, they will have their midfield options secured for another decade.
