Luis Suárez: "Koeman's call, to tell me that he was not counting on me, lasted 40 seconds"

Luis Suárez was encouraged to tell details about what was his retirement from FC Barcelona, the call from Ronald Koeman to indicate that he was no longer with the Catalans two seasons ago and, of course, everything related to his present within Atlético Madrid, by the hand of Cholo Simeone.

"Koeman's call to tell me he wasn't counting with me, and lasted 40 seconds. It is not the way to fire a legend. First he told me that it was not in his plans and then he told me that if I did not resolve my contract, he would play against Villarreal. He lacked personality to tell me things clearly, if he did not love me or it was really the club that did not love me", said Suárez, still hurt by his departure from the Camp Nou.

The Uruguayan striker recounted what happened after knowing that he would no longer be at Barcelona: “They were very difficult days because of everything I gave to the club. I spoke with Sofia and Leo after the call. It was a complicated year for everything. Messi asked to leave if they fired me. The two families had a very bad time. I came home very badly from training ”, added the Uruguayan forward about that moment during his stay in Catalonia.

On whether his salary had been lowered to continue at the club, Luis Suárez stated that they never proposed it to him: “That is easy to say now, but at the time that was not the problem.
