The war between FC Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain has just started. in the middle of both is Argentinian idol Lionel Messi. The 33-year-old star is about to finish his contract with the club and could leave on a free transfer by the end of June.

Former Brazilian international player Leonardo is now the sporting director of the French club. He has been as explicit as nobody else in terms of speaking about the interest of having Messi signed for next season. He has always welcomed the Argentinian on board. When Koeman was asked about Leonardo’s thoughts he did not shut up.

“He can say whatever he wants. If I am asked if I am interested in Neymar and Kylian Mbappé I will also say ‘yes’, it is the same. I can’t give an opinion on them because I don’t know what will happen in the future”, said Koeman in today’s press conference.

Messi was sent off in the Spanish Super Cup final, and received a two-match-ban, which the club might appeal. Regarding the player’s mood, Koeman said: “He’s just training as hard as always. I’ve not seen anything strange on him, we’re all saddened by the Super Cup’s result, but we’re moving forward”.
