This Sunday wasn't another day in the sports and institutional life of Barcelona. In the midst of the scandal unleashed by the leakage of contracts and the subsequent arrest of former president Josep Maria Bartomeu, the elections took place in which Joan Laporta was elected as the new highest authority. And hours after his new mandate was confirmed, Jorge Messi made a striking action on social networks.
Leo Messi went for the first time to vote in the elections for the presidency of Barcelona, although it isn't known what he voted for. However, it's no secret that his relationship with Joan Laporta, the new winner, is very good. So much so that the new president didn't stop remembering him during the electoral campaign and ensuring that he would do everything possible to achieve his renewal.
The Barça '10' congratulated him, as confirmed by Laporta himself, after knowing the result and his father Jorge also gave him a public wink by giving a 'like' to the publication of Barça on Instagram with the announcement of Joan's victory. A gesture that could be understood as that the agreement for Leo to stay in the Catalan club would be closer. Or at least, there would be a predisposition on Messi's part to listen to Laporta's offer.
Lionel Messi's in no hurry to renew
In principle, the forward's idea is to wait until the end of the season to decide his future. He wants to study a little each step to take to see what project Barcelona will have in the future, if he will have the potential to fight for all the titles. After the last years and countless problems with Bartomeu, Messi's in no hurry now, while PSG and Manchester City continue to sigh for him and nothing is ruled out. Leo knows that he will be able to choose the project that convinces him the most, but if a few months ago his future was more outside than within Barcelona, with Laporta's victory everything can change.
