Like Bale, like Hazard: The reason the two Premier League stars failed at Madrid

Under President Florentino Perez, Real Madrid has often implemented a Galactico signing transfer scheme. The likes of Luis Figo, David Beckham, Kaka & Cristiano Ronaldo have all moved to the Santiago Bernabeu in big-money deals. While these moves increase the popularity of the club, they also make the Madrid team unplayable due to the talents that the players possess. Thus the perfect galactico signing gives the club both commercial and sporting success.

However, in recent times, the club's galactico signings have not been very successful. James Rodriguez, Gareth Bale, and Eden Hazard are three of the most recent big-money players that Real Madrid has signed. One thing in common is that they have all flattered to deceive. Especially more recently, Eden Hazard. Both players moved on bumper deals from Tottenham Hotspur (Bale) and Chelsea (Hazard). We'll see reasons why both players from the EPL have not lived up to expectations.

First, both players have been publicly criticised by the country's media houses, perhaps unduly too. The more affected by this is Gareth Bale who has had running battles with the Spanish press over speaking the language, playing golf and possible transfer destinations/move. These criticisms have added more pressure on the players to deliver unlike at the EPL where the press is not as engaged.

Secondly, the club's inability or willingness to adapt to the training regimes of the star players have caused some setback. Both Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard have gone through tough moments on the treatment table with injury after injury.  These repeated injuries have greatly impacted the form and output of both Bale and Hazard.
