Inter Milan signed Lautaro Martinez from Racing Club in 2018 and gave him a five years contract which originally would expire in June 2023 but the Italian champions have now agreed an extension to Lautaro Martinez's contract that will keep him at the club till 2026.

Martinez joined Inter Milan as a 20 year old and it was an investment that has paid off. He formed a good partnership with Romelu Lukaku last season to help Inter Milan win the Italian Serie A after which both Antonio Conte and Romelu Lukaku departed the club.

Martinez attracted transfer interest from top European clubs including Barcelona, Tottenham, among others but Inter Milan didn't have any of those discussions as they wanted to keep Martinez after the departure of Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea.

Martinez's former contract was worth €2.5m, a modest wage for a young boy coming from South America to Europe to achieve stardom and he has rightfully earned and made a name for himself. His new contract is reportedly with €6m.
