France had a Euro 2020 tournament to forget after they were eliminated in the quarter final. Kylian Mbappé missed the penalty that led to their elimination which brought him a lot of reproach in the media.
Mbappé was scapegoated as arrogant and egoistic after the incident. He revealed later in an interview that he considered stepping aside from the national team for a while. His failed transfer to Real Madrid also had him in a dark place for a while.
The UEFA Nations League triumph gave Mbappé some relief and brought some much needed calm into the France squad. Mbappé was the star of the tournament and since then he continues making himself the most important player in the France squad.
Mbappé last night scored four goals against Kazakhstan to help France qualify for the 2022 World Cup, an opportunity to defend their title. Mbappé received €20,000 but unfortunately he won't spend it, he donates to charity.
