Kylian Mbappe has dominated Ligue 1 since 16-year-old debut: The statistics that prove it

Paris Saint-Germain star, Kylian Mbappe has proved himself to be one of the breakout stars of the 2010s' decade and he keeps going strong. With the stars of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi showing signs of waning, Mbappe has placed himself in pole position to take up the mantle of the next global superstar at the least from the legendary Portuguese and Argentine players. Kylian Mbappe owes his popularity to the French Ligue 1, especially to Monaco where he made his senior debut on 2nd December, 2015 at the tender age of 16 years, 347days breaking Thierry Henry's record as the youngest debutant at Monaco. Mbappe's debut came in a 1-1 draw against Caen, replacing Portuguese defender, Fabio Coentrao.

Kylian Mbappe scored his first goal for Monaco on 20th February, 2016 at age 17 years and 62 days. He broke Thierry Henry's record with the first goal also and he was signed up to his first professional contract with the club on 6th March, 2016. Mbappe would go on to form part of the Monaco side that won the 2016/17 Ligue 1 title. 

Kylian Mbappe Ligue 1 seasons and records

Ever since Kylian Mbappe's debut in the Ligue 1 in 2015, the 22-year-old has been a constant, going on to play two full seasons with the Principality club. In the 2015/16 season, Mbappe made 11 appearances for Monaco in the league, scoring 1 goal. The next season, the 2016/17 season, would be the one that would shoot the Bondy-born player to limelight. Mbappe made a total of 29 Ligue 1 appearances and scored 15 goals while still 17 years old.  Mbappe finished that season with 26 goals in all competitions, famously scoring 6 goals in 9 Champions League matches as Monaco reached the semifinals.

His exploits during the 2016/17 season convinced Paris Saint-Germain to splash €180m on the forward in the summer of 2017. This made him the second most-expensive player in the world behind only Neymar at €222m. In his 4 full seasons at the Parc des Princes so far, Mbappe scored a staggering 91 goals in 107 Ligue 1 matches. This feat has seen him win the top-scorer award in the League for the last 3 consecutive seasons.
