The departure of Luis Suárez from FC Barcelona brought a lot of polemics. The Uruguayan striker was axed by the ex-president Josep María Bartomeu with the approval of the head coach Ronald Koeman, despite he was still at a good level and was one of the all-time top-strikers of Barça.

Since his arrival to Atlético Madrid, Suárez did nothing but proving his great conditions. The attacker is now the top-scorer from LaLiga, with 12 goals scored and his team stands in the first position, above Real Madrid and Barcelona. But now the Catalan side is trying the way to find a replacement for him, as the players signed don’t fill the expectation.

The new Suárez that Koeman is very near to sign is Memphis Depay. The Dutch forward has been compared to the Uruguayan, as he also scored 12 goals in the Ligue 1 current season. The difference so far is that Suárez needed 15 matches to score that goals, while Depay needed 21 games to do so.

With 26 years, Depay will be a free agent on June 2021, when his contract with Olympique Lyon reaches an end. In the past, he played for PSV Eindhoven and Manchester United as well. Despite he has a reported value of $45 million, he already said that he is not thinking on a renewal with OL and the chances of him moving to Barça are now very high.
