Virgil van Dijk was facing one of the very best moments of his career, before meeting Jordan Pickford. On Merseyside derby the Liverpool defender received a tackle from Everton's goalkeeper and couldn't continue the game. The match ended 3-3, but the Netherlands defender had to leave to the hospital.

Hours later, van Dijk confirmed himself that he suffered the damage to a cruciate ligament and that he will be recovering himself during several months. Even though we cannot have a date of comeback yet, he may be loosing every single game of the season.


Head coach Jurgen Klopp, who really value van Dijk and was a key part for the arrival of the defender to the club, said after the game that Liverpool will wait for him like a good wife is waiting when the husband is in jail, an in declaration that drew attention from most of the fans and was viral on social media.


van Dijk arrived to Liverpool on January 2018, after the club decided to pay $85 million to Southampton to sign him. At the club he has played 130 games and this season he was from the start in every single game of his side, five matches of the Premier League, two of the EFL Cup and one of the Community Shield.
