Jared Borgetti is one of the historical scorers and players of the Mexican team and just before the game between Mexico and Japan he commented on which

was one of the worst defeats he has suffered with the Mexican team. Borgetti said that before finding out that they were going to meet that rival in a World Cup, everyone preferred to avoid him.

If there is something that makes the Mexican team suffers, it is not being able to pass the round of 16 of a World Cup. The Mexican team always has good first rounds but when it reaches the round of 16 it is so unlucky that it can never win that match. That is why for Borgetti one of the most painful defeats was that of the 2002 World Cup.

Mexico faced the USMNT in the round of 16 and lost by two to zero. For Borgetti that game will remain in the memory as one of the worst in its history. The Mexican forward said that the USMNT was the rival they least wanted to face in the round of 16, but that happened, they lost and were eliminated from the Korea-Japan World Cup.

Those defeats together with the defeat to the Netherlands in Brazil in 2014 are the toughest defeats in recent times for the Mexican team. Likewise, Borgetti remembers the defeat against USMNT very much since it is his classic rival and on paper the US team was always inferior to that of Mexico.
