From a very young age and after making his debut in 2004 as a striker in Independiente Medellín de Colombia, Jackson Martinez demonstrated his great qualities which quickly led him to be named in the major leagues of European football. Today, at 34 years old and without a club after passing through Portimonense S.C. From Portugal's first league, the Colombian striker found a new passion: religious urban music.

Martinez in 2009 was transferred to Jaguares Chiapas from México where he scored 36 goals and gave 10 assists in 68 games, which made FC Porto set its sights on him. In 2012 he went to the Portuguese club for 11 million dollars. There he helped the team to win a league and two Portuguese Super Cups. In addition, thanks to his performance in Portugal, the coach of the Colombian national team Jose Pekerman included him in the squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

His high level in Portugal led to Cholo Simeone's Atletico de Madrid to hire him for 35 million euros in July 2015. There, his career would start to decrease. After 6 months where he only scored 3 goals in 22 games, he was sold to Guangzhou Evergrande of China for 42 million euros. In Chinese football, he played only 16 games and scored 4 goals.

Finally, and after he was not registered for either the Super League or the Asian Champions League for 2018, Guangzhou Evergrande unilaterally decides on March 1, 2018 to terminate the player's contract, arguing that last season he did not play any minute due to the constant injuries that the player has accumulated. In total, Jackson Martínez came across 18 months without playing any official football game.

In 2018 he was confirmed as reinforcement of Portimonense Sporting Clube of the Primeira Liga de Portugal for the 2018-19 season, returning after three years to Portugal. That same he issued his first album as a Christian music singer, released in September. His album was called "No temeré" (which means 'I won't fear').  Martínez defines his music as focused on sharing the word of God.
