Lionel Messi said in an interview in 2020 that he hopes to one day play in the MLS before retiring and fuelled the speculations when he bought a £5m mansion in Miami, Florida which made many believe he was set to sign for David Beckham's franchise Inter Miami CF.

Messi however stayed in Barcelona that time and has now joined PSG after leaving Barcelona and ditching his MLS ambition which is gradually becoming unlikely with age no longer on his side, it may have well been just one of those dreams that never came to pass.

However Messi owns two properties in Miami, other than the penthouse worth £5m he is putting up for sale, he also owns a property at the Porsche tower design which bought last year for £5m, so the MLS dream is still very much alive.

The major threat to the MLS ambition is Messi's desire to return to Barcelona when he is done at PSG and help the club in the capacity of technical secretary which means PSG could be the last club in his professional football career.
