Two weeks ago, Borussia Dortmund announced that most sought after striker Erling Haaland has suffered a hip flexor injury and will be out for"some weeks" but if the reports coming out of Germany and Norway are true, Haaland will not play again this year.

Haaland has been one of the best players in the world since joining Borussia Dortmund from RB Salzburg. He has scored more goals than games played, an astonishing record and has already scored 13 goals in 10 games in all competitions this season before his injury.

Haaland missed the last international break due to injury as Norway continued its push to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar but things are complicated with the injury to their target man. Dortmund have also felt his absence with scrappy wins ever since his injury.

Borussia Dortmund are battling hard to keep Haaland who will have a release clause of £68m despite the club rejecting a tempting offer of £130m from Chelsea but I was rejected. Chelsea moved for former player Romelu Lukaku instead.
