It’s no lie to say that Hugo Sánchez is one of the best Mexicans to ever had played soccer. He’s mostly remembered by his stint with Pumas in Liga Mx and becoming one of the highest scorers in Real Madrid history.
Juan Reynoso is willing to arrive to this Liga MX club for the right offer
As a coach, Sánchez debuted in 2000 returning to Pumas, where he had two stints, the second one being the most fruitful, as he managed to help Los Universitarios become the first club in Liga MX to win back-to-back championships since the short tournaments were established.
He then became Mexico National Team coach for the 2010 cycle, debuting in 2007 after Ricardo LaVolpe was fired by FMF. Just a year after his arrival in El Tri bench he was removed given the disappointing results he had with the U-23 squad that couldn’t access to the 2008 Olympics.
The last time he was in front of a team was with UD Almería in La Liga for a year, in 2009, and since then he’s been a TV analyst. But now, the opportunity to resume his coaching career has arrived, as he’s been linked to Cruz Azul if Juan Reynoso resigns.
For a while, Hugo Sánchez was interested in acquiring a MLS Franchise, given the chances that US Soccer were giving to expand the league. He was tempted to invest in one expansion club to become their coach, but in the end, he decided to wait until a new chance arrived.
