The trend of bad news for FC Barcelona seems not to be ending as reports emerging from the Spanish media indicate that Argentine striker Sergio Aguero will retire due to his heart condition and Barcelona have been informed.

The striker joined Barcelona after losing the UEFA Champions League with Manchester City. He spent 10 years in Manchester and won all trophies possible except the UEFA Champions League which was his last game but lost to Chelsea.

He signed a two years contract with Barcelona worth £11m per season. He missed 10 weeks due to a calf injury and scored his only goal for the club in the 2-1 loss to Real Madrid in the El Clasico. In his first start against Deportivo Alaves, he was subbed in the 42 mins after difficult breathing, he was later diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmias.

He was announced to be out for at least three months but he will now retire after advice by his doctors. Barcelona will lose the value of his contract and will have to sign a new player to replace which could culminate in as much as £25m.
