How much money is Messi missing with his new contract yet to be official?

Six time world footballer of the year Lionel Messi's contract was allowed to run down without renewal by Barcelona and a new contract is yet to be announced officially though reports say it has been agreed.

A year ago, there was a dispute between the Argentine and Barcelona after he wanted to activate a clause in his contract that allows him to leave at the end of every season but was blocked by Barcelona. Messi stayed for the last season of his contract.

From January this year, he was already free to negotiate with other clubs with Paris Saint Germain and Manchester City interested but he did not and had been in best form since the turn of the year.

His former contract was reported to be $610,000 per week while the new contract which was said to have been agreed but yet to be announced is $305,000 per week, taking a 50% pay cut to continue at Camp Nou.

Barcelona haven't registered Messi due to exceeding La Liga's salary cap and as such he hasn't received salary in July and by that has missed $1.2m since his last contract expired.
