The France Football Ballon d'Or is back in 2021 after it was cancelled last year due to Covid19 pandemic. This year's battle is obviously between Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski and six times winner Lionel Messi.
Lewandoski was the favourite to win it last year having won the UEFA Champions League but this time around he has Lionel Messi to battle it out with. The former won an international trophy this year which boosted his chance of clinching the award.
Robert Lewandoski is the most clinical striker in Europe going by his numbers, the Polish has netted 53 times this year and assisted six times while Lionel Messi scored 32 times and assisted 12 times.
In international duties Robert Lewandoski has not been able to qualify Poland for the FIFA World Cup as they will have to determine their faith through the play-off but Messi's Argentina have booked their spot in Qatar few months after winning the Copa America. The two are the leading contenders in this year Ballon d'Or and one of them should go home with the award tonight.
