After debuting in 1994 with Toluca, where he played until 2003, he was part of the historical Mexico National Team roster that beat Brazil National Team in the final of 1999 FIFA Confederations Cup by a 4-3 score, where he was part of the starting XI.

But not even after winning the first FIFA tournament in Mexico’s history and erasing Ronaldinho from the pitch, Salvador Carmona was able to have a long and fruitful career, as he was permanently banned from playing soccer professionally by FIFA after testing positive two times to anti-doping tests.

After he had to retire from playing soccer, Carmona tried to sue Mexican Football Federation trying to clear his name, but FMF was absolved. He now is part of a group of Toluca players that tour in Mexico and the US playing exhibition games and on amateur leagues.
