When Mexico National Team U-17 won their second title, El Tri was established as one of the strongest U-17 teams and confirmed their role of contender in the category, especially after winning on home soil, beating Uruguay by a 2-0 score in Estadio Azteca.

But after that, most of the players slowly faded away, and currently they are retired or playing on amateur leagues. Some of them were contacted by European teams and even played for a while in Europe, like Antonio Briseño, who was on the radar of Manchester City for a while.

The 28-year-old center back was able to establish himself in Liga MX with Chivas, although he had a long road before being able to acquire regularity. After he raised the trophy with El Tri U-17, Briseño joined Tigres in 2013, where Los Felinos didn’t give him the chance of fighting for a place, which is why he now greets people in videos for $50 each.

What else has Antonio Briseño done?

Briseño was loaned multiple times in Liga MX, to Atlas, Juárez FC and even the now-extinct Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz before finally leaving Liga MX as a free agent, joining Primeria Liga side CD Feirense in 2017. After two years playing in Europe, Briseño arrived in Chivas, where he’s played ever since.
