He was the new Cristiano Ronaldo, won the Champions League and is one step away from retirement

Having a very similar career to Cristiano Ronaldo in his beginning, make him being constantly compared to the Portuguese legend, even though things are near the end very different for them. His name is Luis Carlos Almeida da Cunha, even though he is commonly known as Nani.

Also Portuguese, he was formed in Sporting CP, the same club as Cristiano, and then landed on Manchester United on July 2007 for more than $25 million. He played 230 matches at the English side, scoring 40 goals and giving 74 assists. In 2015, he finally left to Fenerbahçe Turkish side.

Then his career continued through Valencia CF, Lazio and finally Orlando City MLS side, the club in which he is playing nowadays. Nani won many important titles during his professional career, as the Champions League, fours Premier Leagues and the EURO. But despite being a top player, his career is near the end.

At his 34 years old, and while Cristiano shines in Juventus, Nani has a reported value of just $3 million according to specialized website Transfermarkt and could be playing his last season. His contract with Orlando City will end on December 2021 and there are concrete chances of him leaving professional soccer then. At the MLS club he has scored 21 goals in 58 matches played so far.
