Pep Guardiola might be one of the best coaches in the world not only for what he did with FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich and currently with Manchester City, but also because he knows how to read the game and recognize young talents, while giving them a chance to play in top leagues.

But back in the day, he always had a clear vision of the pitch when he was still a player, and not a lot of people remember that he played in Mexico before retiring, as he was part of Dorados during Clausura 2006, where he joined his friend Juan Manuel Lillo, who was coaching Dorados.
It was during his short stint in Liga MX that he got to meet Guadalupe Castañeda, who impressed Guardiola with his game style and ball control. Although Castañeda was also in his last years as a professional player, that didn’t stop him from excite Guardiola, who claimed he had never seen anyone train as hard as “Lupillo”.

After he retired, “Lupillo” Castañeda had a brief stint as a TV commentator and analyst, especially of Liga MX games, but he later decided to open a restaurant, El Rico Sazón, in on of Guadalajara’s most famous markets, Mercado Corona, where he’s usually seen attending people, cooking and even washing the dishes.
