Manchester City squad boasts a well stuffed midfield of top quality and versatile midfielders but Pep Guardiola is not satisfied, he wants more in his squad that is already worth over a billion Euros. His attention is believed to be turned towards Benfica midfielder Darwin Nunez.

The 22 year old Uruguayan midfielder only joined Benfica last year from Spanish club Almeria and has been impressive so far. He has scored six goals in eight games for Benfica this season and he announced himself to the bigger stage when he destroyed Barcelona in the Champions League with two goals.

Manchester City reportedly had scouts in that match to watch him play. He would not come cheap for the Sky Blues as he has a contract until 2025 with Benfica and has a release clause of €150m which is believed that Benfica is unwilling to compromise should anyone want to sign the player they signed for €24m just a year ago.

Pep Guardiola is unhappy for missing out on his top transfer target in the summer, Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane. He got creative midfielder Jack Grealish from Aston Villa instead for £100m, a British transfer record to join his list of elite midfielders.
