Some countries and coaches tend to speak about the ‘Fake 9’ referring to a striker who seems to start the match facing the box but then goes back and keeps closer to a playmaker position, leaving the wing strikers as the ones that are further up in the field. Now, we’re going to talk about another fake. The Fake Lionel Messi.

His name is Reza Parastesh, an Iranian man who found an unusual feature that could lead him to success. His facial similarity with the Argentinian legend. One day his father gave him a Barcelona shirt and asked him to take a picture with it. The result was absolutely marvelous, and hilarious at the same time. They were ‘two water drops’.

When interviewed by AFP back in 2017, Parastesh said he actually wanted to copy Messi in every possible detail. But as Medio Tiempo said, his fame grew as quickly as his beard (and Messi’s, of course). Still, he also got in trouble with the police in Iran, given he tried to make use of his similarity with Messi to actually pretend to be him.

Despite his funny side, Parastesh has expressed his concern on the serious harassment he has suffered because of this. Also, he expressed his desire of meeting the real Lionel Messi in the future. Still, he believes his chances are very little, and he confessed he doesn’t think the Argentinian legend knows of his existence.
