He played for FC Barcelona and revealed why he would never be admitted into the starting eleven

A couple of years ago, FC Barcelona signed this young defender, and there was a lot of hype around him But he never lived up to the expectations put on him, and played just a handful of matches until he was left out of the team. Now, playing somewhere else, he talked about the time he spent there.

That player is the defender Jean-Claire Todibo, a French centerback signed from Toulouse. He spent just six months at Barça and then he was loaned out to Schalke 04, Benfica and OGC Nice, where he has just made his debut. He joined the Catalan side at 19 years old and told that at that club he realized what the top level was.

When asked about he was never playing, he talked about Ernesto Valverde, the coach at the time, but Todibo was comprehensive to him. He reminded in an interview that the manager was going under a lot of pressure, so he understood why he was always playing with Gerard Piqué and Clement Lenglet.

Anyway, the French defender still hopes to come back to FC Barcelona one day and impress Ronald Koeman or whatever coach is there at that time. He knows he is still young and has a long career ahead of him, so he wants to perform well where he is now so he can come back ready to be a top player for his original club.
