Lionel Messi can now finally say that he is the player in soccer history who scored the biggest number of goals for a single club. The Argentinian netted 644 with FC Barcelona, one more than what Pele scored for Santos. The others on the list are Gerd Muller (570 for Bayern Munich) and Fernando Peyroteo (569 for Sporting CP).

For Messi to achieve such a conquer, he used the help of one of Barcelona’s greatest prospect. He is Pedro González, known as Pedri, the youngster who gave Messi the assist to score the historical goal. Barça was defeating Real Valladolid 2-0 on LaLiga, when Messi received the pass from his companion and scored.

Pedri is an offensive midfielder formed in Las Palmas, that arrived to Barcelona on September 2019 on a loan and finally stayed on a permanent move. He has an actual reported value of $30 million and his contract lasts until June 2022. At the club, many think that he could be the successor of Messi is the star leaves.

Messi was waiting to overcome the record of Pele, and now he can hold another important award in his career that none of his competitors, as Diego Maradona, Pele, Cristiano Ronaldo and so, have. It is another step for the no. 10 in his way to be recognized as the best player ever.

Even though he made such an achievement, Messi hasn’t yet confirmed that he will stay at Barcelona. The future of the idol is undefined, being Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain the two top clubs that intend to sign him. As he expressed some months ago, he wants to leave Barcelona for the first time ever.
