The FIFA Club World Cup started with a victory for Tigres UANL, that defeated Ulsan Hyundai 2-1 with two goals scores by André-Pierre Gignac. The French striker had an impressive performance and help his team to win the game, that they started losing by a single goal.

The Liga MX side is qualified to the international competition for winning the CONCACAF Champions League, in which they defeated Los Angeles FC in the final game. It was another chance for Carlos Vela to obtain his first title playing for clubs, but he failed and LAFC lost the final game.

Tigres will now have to face Palmeiras, winners of the Copa Libertadores. In the other side of the schedule, Al-Duhail will face Al-Ahly and the winner will play against Bayern Munich. The final game will take place on February 11, a day in which Tigres will try to compete to obtain the competition.

 

Gignac gave lately another prof that, at his 35 years old, he is still one of the best attackers in South America. The striker has a contract signed until June 2021 and is showing his great level and conditions. In 2015, he arrived to the Mexican side, in which he has already played 244 matches and scored 144 goals.
