Gerard Piqué’s recent comments have put him in risk of ban

Gerard Piqué is back again facing controversy after some comments he has pronounced in the last days. The Barcelona sent her back center back worth speaking with a YouTuber and expressed himself clearly against the referees in the league. But given he’s been what in some countries is called ‘brutally honest’, he is now in danger.

Last week, the 34-year-old defender was talking with DJ Mariio, a Youtuber and influencer from his country, and has showed himself as critical and severe as he has roughly ever been in front of any journalist. The club’s captain has targeted at the referees of La Liga for some mistakes and some intentionalism he says they have.

During a relaxed chat, he revealed that 85% of the referees tend to help Real Madrid, and it is having historically been favored by them. He said that according to former referee Eduardo Iturralde González, most of them support the Merengues. He admitted despite he respects their good faith, referees always call for the same side (Real Madrid, of course) in controversies.

The Committee of Competition has warned him that his comments go against the referees corporate’s honesty, professionalism and impartiality.   As for that, the organization has opened a file to register Piqué’s case. Menwhile, the international defender is recovering from an injury he suffered recently.
