Gerard Piqué spoke about retirement again. Aware that he is already 34 and a half years old, the Catalan defender gave an extensive interview for El País and spoke about his immediate future and recent years. "Madrid, when Cristiano Ronaldo left, also went through a time when he did not score a goal against the rainbow," he acknowledged when talking about Messi's departure.

Piqué regrets Bartomeu's management and attributes it to winning everything in 2014-15: "I think the 2014-15 triplet was more expensive than ever. In January of that year, Bartomeu's intention to vote was less than 1 % and then won them. It is a lesson for the members for whom the results are not everything. For winning the treble, for six very good months on the field ... The club is not only what happens on the field of play".

Regarding his future, he clarified that he will not move, but put conditions: "I will retire at Barcelona. That's for sure. What I will not accept is to retire as a substitute. Let's see, if it's the last three months of a season and it's my turn, Well, well. But a whole year in the bank? No, I'm not interested". One of the club's greatest legend, Xavi Hernández, left the club as a substitute, in Luis Enrique's first year.

The defender believes that, despite the current crisis, the new generation has a future: "They are very good. Gavi, Nico, Pedri, Balde, Ansu. It is a generation in which if done well, it consolidates and achieves results, in a couple of years you can go back to racing for a long time and be favorites to win everything. I think this generation is a lot like mine. I don't want to buy them, because that's putting pressure on them. But Pedri and Gavi It could be Iniesta and Xavi. They who win what they can and, above all, enjoy it. "
