Not everything is joy in football, as there are also black episodes of some footballers who, after being figures in their teams in la Liga MX, ended up stepping on jail, some are still in prison, others have just left. Most of the ex-convicts are kept under observation by the authorities, as is the case of Jesus "el Cabrito" Arellano, who was released a few months ago for the crime of alleged rape, however by failing to appear at one of the audiences, the judge has issued a new arrest warrant.
Another of the most notorious cases is that of Ronaldinho, who played for the Gallos Blancos de Queretaro. The Brazilian was arrested and imprisoned in Paraguay for showing false documentation, undoubtedly the slightest crime of all. One of the most recent and controversial cases is the recent release from jail of the Mexican player Joao Malek, who after driving drunk murdered two people, seriously affecting the family. The player is about to get a team after spending about a year in jail.
Another recent case was the attempted femicide of former Club America midfielder Renato Ibarra, who was acquitted. Also, the case of the “Hobbit” Bermudez when failing with the food pension imposed by the Judge. Finally, the case of the Rayados de Monterrey goalkeeper, “Gato” Ortiz, who is still in prison for the crime of kidnapping.
This has been the dark side of some players who have gone through the Liga MX, but who have also been in jail, either for a short time or for a long time, as is the case of “Gato” Ortiz.
