Fernando Meza is about to make a big move, after a season in which he couldn't play that much with Atlanta United, regarding his injuries and his doubtful level. The defender aged 30 is now set to make a move and leave Frank de Boers side. He joined the team in January 2020 and after just 13 games played he may be leaving.

Meza signed an undisclosed percentage before arriving the MLS with Club Xolos Tijuana, the side that is now wanting to sign him. He previously played in Mexican soccer, with 52 games at Club Necaxa. In that country he could show a very good level and his chances to go back now are concrete.

The percentage of Meza that belongs to Tijuana is due to a swap made when Leandro González Pírez joined Inter Miami, leaving the Mexican side. If things advance, the Argentinian defender will join on the next Clausura from Liga MX, as for now the Apertura season will end just as the MLS season.

Atlanta United are facing a terrible moment. On Week 20 they lost against DC United in their fifth game without winning in a streak in the season. For now, they are out of the playoffs zone as they stand in the 12th position with 19 points earned after 20 games played.
