Through the Spanish ranks, a wonderkid appeared and suddenly got into a first division club, and slowly and steadily developed into a player who knows how to handle the midfield. Aware of his potential, his club offered him a new contract that included an important salary rise and a release clause near €60 million.

This player got his initial first team steps in a second division club and left at the middle of the season. Anyway, he was important given that team got the promotion, with him contributing for half a season. His new club was AS Roma, when he got the place in the starting eleven and never let it go.

This player is Gonzalo Villar. This 22-year-old midfielder has been compared with Xavi or a more defensive David Silva. He has already played with Spain in U-19 and U-21 categories and is expected to make his debut with the senior team next year, and probably make the list for World Cup Qatar 2022.

The scouts of FC Barcelona and Real Madrid noticed him, but it seems it happened too late and he will accept the Roma offer to renew his contract, one year after his arrive to Italy after playing for Elche. In less than a year he went from being a Second Division player to be highlighted to achieve big things.
