Exploded in anger: Lionel Messi’s insult in his last game with Barcelona was revealed
The Argentinian argued intensely with some of his Athletic Bilbao opponents, and some hours after the game, his words were discovered.
Lionel Messi was the man of the weekend without any doubt, after his contract was leaked, he suffered lots of critics from people who complained about how a man can be paid that much money. But on Sunday he had an extraordinary performance against Athletic Bilbao. He scored a fancy free kick. But also, he argued with his opponents.
From Athletic Bilbao’s bench somebody called: “We can’t even touch him. Shut up, stupid”. Messi reacted: “What did you eat, bolud*?”. We will give an explanation to this. That last word is a typical Argentinian word that was considered aggressive until mid-1990s and has later turned into a more informal expression among friends.
As for “What did you eat?”, it’s reshaped from “Who did you eat?”. In Argentina, to “eat” someone means to be involved with that person and to have a sentimental moment or relationship. It is used as a way to ask “Who do you think you are?”.
Lionel Messi’s contract is set to expire on June 30, his conflict is in part with the club, and in part with local media, after events like the ones from the weekend. The relationship is not easy, despite he always said he wanted to stay in the club. Of course, negotiations will not be simple. Neither to deal with rivals.
