Everton held Manchester United to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford in a disappointing match for the Red Devils at old Trafford but that was not the major highlight of the match. Everton player Andros Townsend equalised for Everton after Anthony Martial had given the Red Devils the lead. Townsend after scoring hit Cristiano Ronaldo's celebration much to the annoyance of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Cristiano Ronaldo started the match on the bench for the match and was introduced in the second half and had just 33 minutes to make an impact but could not help the team avoid a draw. His second straight game without a goal after scoring four in his first four games.
The Manchester United manager defended the decision to start Ronaldo on the bench saying it's due to workload and to keep the 36year old fresh. “Well Wednesday night was a big effort, a big emotional and physical output. So we needed to freshen it up. When it’s an early kick off the start of this game is going to be important and we’ve got some very good players coming on as well. It’s a team we think is going to take charge of the game.”

Andros Townsend equalised for Everton against Manchester United and hit Cristiano Ronaldo's trademark "siuuu" celebration. Ronaldo was seen visibly displeased but Townsend has explained it's out of respect for the Portuguese. " You know what, no disrespect but this guy [Ronaldo] is my idol. I grew up watching him, spent hours on the training pitch trying to execute his techniques, maybe I should have spent longer on the celebration. It was just respect to Cristiano."
The result further piles pressure on Manchester United manager who is believed to be walking on a thin line after spending so much on recruitments but producing such kind of a result the team has seen in recent weeks. Cristiano Ronaldo scored a last minute winner for the club in the Champions League midweek but could not save the club today.
