Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland is out injured and reports from the German media says he could be out of action until the new year in what is a big blow to his club Borussia Dortmund and his country Norway as they hope to secure a qualification to the World Cup in Qatar.

Haaland also missed the last international window due to injury that has affected his season. Norway currently trail Netherlands in group G with two points and are also closely followed by Turkey and Montenegro who could still overtake them.

Their final group games are against Latvia and Netherlands, all important and must win games to ensure their direct qualification otherwise they will face another team in the playoffs.

Haaland had scored five goals in six qualifier games before his injury and his absence certainly affected the team's chance of qualification. The direct qualification could be out of reach as Netherlands will not give it up but if Norway makes the playoffs, they will have Haaland back for the playoffs in March bar any other circumstances.
