The image of Christian Eriksen suffering a collapse in the match between Denmark and Finland, for the first date of Euro 2021, causes astonishment. The action of his teammates and the doctors managed to save his life and he is currently in a hospital to carry out studies and see how his health's.

Despite the seriousness of what he suffered, and the doctors having stated in public that he might not play again, from El Futbolero we review the history of other footballers who had heart problems and who played again.

First of all, the Nigerian Nwankwo Kanu. After winning the gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, he signed for Inter Milan. In medical studies, a heart injury was detected and the chances of him continuing to be active were very low. However, he underwent a treatment and was soon able to play again. After that, he continued his career with the Italian team and then at Arsenal, West Bromwich Albion and Portsmouth, all in the Premier League, for a total of 384 games. By age, he is already retired.

Continuing in Italian football, in 2012 Antonio Cassano suffered a stroke and arrhythmia playing for Milan. The forward rehabbed and played 139 games for Inter Milan, Parma, Sampdoria and Hellas Verona, before announcing his retirement.

In June 2014, Ángel Correa had to undergo surgery for a heart problem. He had surgery to remove a cyst in his left ventricle. "The doctors had told me that everything was going to be fine and that there was no risk of not being able to play again, but it was all a lie. They had lied to me. They did not tell me anything before my operation to do it, but after If everything went well, they told me that there was a possibility that if something had gone wrong, I might not have played again. Of course, everything went well and I could continue", said the Argentine.

In February 2019, German player Sami Khedira was operated on for an arrhythmia. After a short break, he returned to professional activity.

In 2015, Real Madrid made the purchase of Brazilian Lucas Silva official. But in previous medical studies the player was detected an arrhythmia. Months later, in new studios, it disappeared and continues to operate at Cruzeiro. Since then he has played 158 games for various clubs.

In America, there are also cases to remember. In Ecuador, Joao Paredes was about to sign a contract in Liga Quito in 2017, fibrosis and cardiac arrhythmia were detected. At that moment his career stopped and in January of last year he returned to competition in Olmedo. He played from 2017 to the present a total of 30 games.

At the age of 24, Aitor Karanka had to stop his career at Real Madrid due to benign idiopathic acute myopericarditis. In 1998 he didn't play for a year and when he returned, he was the undisputed starter for El Merengue.

In 2017, Dani Carvajal suffered a pericardium. After several studies and a time away, he was able to return in the best way.
