Many top international figures played at the Liga MX during their careers. Ronaldinho, Bebeto, Pep Guardiola, Bernd Schuster or Iván Zamorano are just some cases of players who decided to move to the Mexican league. The money gained and the chance to play for popular teams are some of the greatest incentives they had to move.

But despite these cases, there are some others of players who were very near to arrive to the Liga MX, but that finally rejected that possibility. One of those is Didier Drogba, the idol from the Ivory Coast who had the option to join the Gallos Blancos del Querétaro, but he refused that option.

Another one is Rivaldo, the Brazilian striker who was set to join Club América, but decided to stay at Europe. He had the chance to move in a millionaire transfer, but the World Champions preferred to stay in Europe. During his career, he played for some top international teams, as FC Barcelona or AC Milan and many Brazilian and European minor sides.

Another player who had the option to move to the Liga MX was Kaká, the Ballon D’Or winner who was called by Club América and Cruz Azul, but rejected that options to sign with Orlando City MLS side. The list may be continued with players as Juan Román Riquelme, Pablo Aimar, Diego Forlán and some others.
