Antoine Griezmann was set to have a great time at FC Barcelona, but things didn’t go as he expected at the club. He left Atlético de Madrid being a top player for Diego Simeone, and after more than a year at his new club, he could never show the level that he once had at Madrid.
Lionel Messi couldn’t form a great duo with the French forward and keeps missing Luis Suárez, his great friend and one of the all-time top scorers from the club. Despite Griezmann doesn’t have intentions to leave, Ronald Koeman clarified that he wants another no. 9 saying that the reinforcement must be a priority.
Griezmann has been playing in that position so far this season, aside with Messi. Other attackers also played frequently, such as Ansu Fati, Pedri, Trincao, Ousmane Dembélé, or Philipe Coutinho. Koeman will now have to pick who are those in charge to accompany Messi.
Griezmann arrived Barcelona after the club paid more than $130 to Atlético de Madrid to sign him. The world champion with French national team played 257 games for Atlético in the past, scoring 133 goals and giving 50 assists. After 55 matches at Barcelona he could only manage to score 16 times and assisted four.
