Real Madrid's new signing David Alaba has expressed his desire to play alongside French defender Raphael Varane at the club though that is unlikely to happen as reports say Varane will leave Spain to join Manchester United in England.

David Alaba joined Real Madrid from Bayern Munich after ten successful years in the German club where he won many trophies. He was unveiled today and given the number 4 jersey vacated by departed club captain Sergio Ramos who left for PSG.

"Of course I would love to play with Varane," Alaba said during his unveiling on Wednesday. "For many years he has played excellent football and not just now. He is a wonderful defender and has great qualities."

Varane has a year left on his Madrid contract and has refused a new contract from the club, the club is open to letting him go so as not to lose him for free next summer.
