At the end of last season, reports began to circulate of Cristiano Ronaldo's intention to leave Turin and find a new challenge after just three seasons at Juventus. The reports were further fuelled when Ronaldo shipped his $17m fleet of cars to his home in Madrid. He later made a return to the club he made it big as a teenager having been linked with city rivals Manchester City prior.

He made his debut against Newcastle United in the Premier League last week Saturday and he scored twice to help Manchester United to a convincing 4-1 over the Magpies. His last Premier League hattrick before his departure to Real Madrid was against Newcastle United and he was close to getting it again in his return.

He however had a very frustrating night and a second UEFA Champions League debut to forget on Tuesday. He scored the opening goal but a red card to Aaron Wan-Bissaka meant Ronaldo was substituted off and the team eventually lost 2-1, after his replacement Jesse Lingard made an horrendous back pass that led to a goal.

He would have a chance to continue this good individual run when Manchester United travel to West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday, where a win will help them remain top of the league. Ronaldo is deployed primarily as an inside box number nine and can also play as a winger.
