On Tuesday 13th September, Cristiano Ronaldo will start his 19th consecutive season in the UEFA Champions League. With the 4th different club side, (Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and Manchester United again) the Portuguese superstar has made himself a household name in the competition. As he lines out for Manchester United against Young Boys, Cristiano Ronaldo will have his eyes set on breaking and setting new records in Europe's premier club competition.

The 5-time Ballon d'Or winner is a prolific forward and goalscorer in the Champions League. He has terrorised teams for almost two decades and has gone on to set numerous records in the competition. He owns so many records in the competition that the only player who could compete with him in individual records is his only rival, Lionel Messi. We'll look at some of the records that Cristiano Ronaldo holds so far in the UEFA Champions League.

First off, Cristiano Ronaldo is the all-time leading goalscorer in the Champions League with 134 goals. He edges Lionel Messi to this, even though the Argentine isn't too far behind on 120 goals, followed by Robert Lewandowski's 73 goals. The 5-time Ballon d'Or winner also holds the record for the most goals in a Champions League season with 17, scored in his triumphant 2013/14 season. Ronaldo is the player with the highest number of goals across all UEFA club competitions with 137 goals, 134 which has come in the Champions League and 3 in the UEFA Super Cup.

Ahead of the start of the group stage, Cristiano Ronaldo is the only player to have scored in all six group stage games in the Champions League. He also scored in 11 consecutive UEFA Champions League games and holds the record for the most goals in the knockout stages of the Champions League with 67 goals. He has scored in 3 UEFA Champions League final matches and is the only player to have won 5 UEFA Champions League titles. Ronaldo will strive to set more records as he represents Manchester United in the next 2 editions of the UEFA Champions League.
