Cristiano Ronaldo could not believe that his goal against Serbia didn't go up to the scoreboard. The Portuguese striker, who already offered ostensible gestures of anger on the field of play, transferred his disbelief to social networks, where he left a message of resignation for what happened.

"Being captain of the Portugal team's one of the greatest prides and privileges of my life. I give and will always give everything for my country, that will never change. But there are difficult moments to face, especially when we feel that a whole nation is is being affected. Raise your head and face the next challenge now! Strength, Portugal!", he pointed through his Instagram profile.

Fernando Santos, Portugal coach, went further and revealed that the referee, Danny Makkelie, had apologized for his mistake. "The referee apologized and told me that he was embarrassed. I was in the locker room with him and he apologized. He had told me on the field that he was going to see the images and that if that was the case he would call me to apologize ... And so it was. It was the second time in a qualifying round that they apologized to me after the game. I told him on the field that there was no VAR or goal line. The referees are human and they make mistakes, but that's why the VAR is there and goal-line technology to avoid it".
